MONITOR MUSCLE
TRAINING RESPONSE

Measure training response directly from muscle.

• See muscle training response as activation level

• Monitor training response in real-time

• See whether the desired muscle gets activated at all

• Understand whether movement is produced with desired muscle or other muscles

• Try various exercises and execution techniques impact on muscle activation level

HOW MPOWER WORKS

Mpower measures muscle training response

EMG

As muscles get activated by training, they produce along their function electrical signals called EMG. Mpower uses surface-EMG (sEMG)technology to detect EMG-signals. sEMG-measurement provides useful information about muscle training response i.e. does the exercise activate the desired muscle and how much. Measuring multiple muscles simultaneously muscle functional balance can be examined.

POD

Mpower pod works with Mpower app. Pod is attached on the skin on top of the measured muscle with a strap or an adhesive to measure EMG-signal produced by the muscle. Pod connects wirelessly to Mpower app and delivers the measurement data to app for analysis.

APP

Mpower app calculates out of measurement data multiple parameters that describe muscle training response. App shows muscle repetition based activation and fast-twitch muscle fiber activation in real-time and stores muscle specific activation data on personal user account. Furthermore app registers muscle specific maximum activation levels and calculates set and exercise specific activation volumes for easy development monitoring.

Unique and precise technology

Measures electrical signals produced by muscle during its function. Mpower is based on state-of-the-art sEMG-signal analysis and provides accurate information about muscle training response as muscle activation. Unique technology enables measuring activation of both slow and fast-twitch muscle fibers and muscle fatigue.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Total activation

Muscle training response as instantaneous activation level. Contains the activation of all muscle cells. Easy for monitoring repetition specific activation levels and searching for most effective exercises and techniques. Helps also to identify situations when loading is shifting to other muscles. You may view total activation either in absolute or proportional values (% compared to maximum value achieved with specific muscle).

Maximum activation

Maximum value of total activation achieved as muscle training response. Easy for monitoring development of training response and muscle power production.

Fast activation

Muscle fast-twitch fibers training response as instantaneous activation level. With this you ensure training develops fast-twitch fibers. Helps you also to observe reduced activation of fast-twitch fibers during training, which may be caused by exercise impact shifting to other muscles, exercise execution slowing down or fast-twitch fiber getting fatigued. In such cases it is recommended to consider stopping speed or explosive strength training as the muscle is not necessarily capable of responding to the exercise with the intended intensity.

Activation volume

Muscle specific cumulative activation. Shows muscle cumulative activation volume during the exercising. You may monitor exercise specific activation volumes or muscle specific activation volumes accumulated over all exercises.

Fast activation volume

Muscle specific cumulative fast-twitch fiber activation. Shows muscle cumulative fast activation volume during exercising. You may monitor exercise specific fast activation volumes or muscle specific fast activation volumes accumulated over all exercises.

app and pod.

Activation distribution

Activation distribution between muscle slow and fast-twitch fibers. You may monitor muscle specific fast-twitch fiber activation as % of muscle total activation.

Activation balance

Requires 2 pods used simultaneously. You may monitor muscle pair (left-right) activation balance. This helps you to recognise muscle imbalance and develop more balanced power production.

Activation ratio

Requires 2 pods used simultaneously. You may monitor muscle pairs like supporter-mover or agonist-antagonist functionality and proportional loading.

Fatigue index

Shows how muscle gets fatigued. As fast-twitch fibers get fatigued, speed strength exercise should be stopped.
